NiTech Solutions was formed in December 2004 as a spinout Company from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, in order to commercialise its patented intellectual property in continuous oscillating baffle reactor technology.
Founded by Professor Xiong-Wei Ni, the Company is a leading authority on delivering step-change process improvements through the use of baffled reactor technology. NiTech has installed more than 50 units worldwide since 2005, ranging from small-scale lab units for R&D purposes to pilot and full-scale manufacturing units for major industry players. The portable and scalable reactors have been shown to increase production yields and product quality, while reducing capital and operating costs.
Professor Xiong-Wei Ni
Xiong-Wei has been responsible for the development of both the NiTech Crystallizer and the NiTech Reactor.
He is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Heriot Watt University, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, and has over 20 years’ experience in oscillatory baffled reactors. He recognised that real value would only be created by applying the science to industrial applications and thus initiated his work on continuous polymerisation.
