OIC formalises links with eminent Oxford academics and industry leaders

In an exciting development, Oxford Investment Consultants LLP (OIC) has formalised links with eminent Oxford academics and industry leaders by assembling a panel of Scientific Partners and a Commercial Advisory Board (CAB).

The seven Scientific Partners bring valuable physical and life sciences and entrepreneurial expertise to the OIC team. This vast experience will be instrumental in assisting OIC to continue identifying the latest scientific breakthroughs with the highest commercial impact, further enabling OIC to play a key role in taking world-leading science from the laboratory to the real world. It is hoped that closer ties with leading academics in Oxford will further ingrain OIC’s relationship with and standing as a preferred investor in the Oxford ecosystem.

Drawing on vast entrepreneurial experience from a range of high-profile industries, including the life sciences, advanced engineering and finance, the eight CAB members will be a valuable resource to OIC portfolio companies. By providing access to a wealth of commercial knowledge and high-level contacts, the CAB will instrumental in assisting portfolio companies to navigate the transition from start-up to global scale-up—something many UK spinouts find challenging.

Commenting on these new additions to the team, OIC Founding Partner George Robinson said “We’re thrilled to announce this important milestone in not only the growth of OIC, but also the spinout ecosystem in Oxford. As many of our portfolio companies transition to the next stage of commercial development, it’s essential for us as investors to be able to offer the hands-on experience and broad network which maximises the opportunities these companies are presented with. Assembling our new entrepreneurial Scientific Partners and Commercial Advisory Board is a key step in allowing us to do this. Importantly, it also demonstrates OIC’s ongoing commitment to playing an important role in the commercialisation of the some of the world’s most exciting technological breakthroughs happening in laboratories right here on our doorstep in the UK.”
