Oxford Brain Diagnostics
Oxford Brain Diagnostics has developed a tool that can diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia up to three years before current clinical methods.
In healthy people, brain circuits form regularly spaced vertical columns of standard-sized cells, which have been shown to become disarrayed in dementia patients. The Company uses diffusion MRI as a biomarker of the structural degradation of these microcircuits, showing that it has a strong correlation to disease staging in various forms of dementia. The technology provides an objective measure correlated with disease progression to better define clinical trial endpoints for dementia drugs.
