KEIT Spectrometers

Keit Spectrometers (KEIT) was spun out from the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) Rutherford Appleton Laboratories in 2012 to commercialise a spectrometer for real-time monitoring of industrial chemical processes using technology initially developed for a Mars mission.

The Company produces IRmadillo™, a spectrometer contained in an explosion-proof housing, which allows it to be deployed in hostile environments and beats incumbent technologies on both performance and price. The instrument can be attached to industrial reaction vessels, allowing manufacturers to alter input variables in response to real-time data on the progress of a reaction, increasing yields and quality while reducing the number of failed batches.
