Caristo Diagnostics

Caristo Diagnostics was spun out of the Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford to commercialise a diagnostic tool for identifying patients at risk of suffering a heart attack.

The technology works by analysing CT angiogram scans to identify and track the fat-to-water ratio in a patient’s perivascular tissue, which has been identified as a leading indicator of vascular inflammation, a condition that can lead to the rupture of atherosclerotic plaques and subsequent heart attack. The Company is currently developing a software solution for the automated analysis of CT angiogram data, which will better define key parameters and accurately quantify a patient’s heart attack risk profile. Caristo is currently exploring the research market and building on existing relationships with large pharmaceutical companies to generate early revenue streams.
